Tokyopop's Rising Stars of Manga competition no longer running...?
I've been drawing comics for almost two years now, and I've completed a short comic for the RSOM competition. I went onto the website to check out more details, but apparently, it looks as if the compant is not doing it anymore. What I do know a couple of years ago, they started this "pliot program" for people to submit in work and get job offer from the company, I guess. Is this one of the reasons why they're not doing the contest anymore, or is it something else?
Tokyopop has been cutting down big time on it's publishing activity over the past few years. This has resulted in the discontinuation of many of it's titles and with the economy, it would not be hard to believe for them to stop those kinds of contests. It was at one time one of the largest producers of graphic novels in the United States, but it has been overtaken by publishers such as Viz and Yen Press, along with companies such as Bandai taking full control over their products.
I'd say if you want something published, you should contact the yen press because they publish mostly Korean and American artists.
