Is Michael Jackson more of an artist than Elvis was because he wrote his own songs?
Elvis is famous for not writing a single one of his great songs whereas Jackson wrote 10 of his 13 number 1 hits.
I just don't think that you can be considered a truly great artist if you haven't written any truly great songs. Elvis and Jackson were both great performers but Michael Jackson was a much greater artist.
Michael may be considered "Wacko Jacko" by many (not me), but he does write his own material. Gotta give MJ his credit.
