Manga Anime Graphic
Good beginning manga/anime/graphic novels?
Okay, so I really like anime/manga, but I couldn't ever get them when I was younger because my mom is..insane, (for example, she thinks Pokemon is demonic..) and would never let me or my brothers get anything fantasy-related, plus we didn't have much money back then and couldn't afford some things (bad excuse, but whatever). So whenever my friends ask why I don't like anime (almost all of my friends are anime nerds), I just tell them that I never really got into it, but I want to! My question is, where's a good place to start? (I know this isn't real anime, but I like Invader ZIM and all Studio Ghibli films). Thanks! 
Btw, I'm a 14 year old girl. Don't let that change anything ^_^
I agree with PlainXMisery, start with something you like. I personally started out with Inuyasha and Yu Yu Hakusho when I was ten, but both are rather violent.
"Kaze no Stigma" has a mix of everything without needing excessive violence but its your choice.
