Run Comic
What's the best way to present and run a web-comic?
What have you found that works the best for an online comic?
- A long-running series?
- Short self contained stories?
- A site with multiple stories and titles?
- Do the ads really bug you?
- What hasn't been done yet?
- In what ways is this new format of presenting comic art not being fully utilized?
I want answers straight from you. What you feel will work best. Don't quote or recommend some book that's out there (of which there are quite a few good ones). I want your gut input.
I'm a webcomics publisher who will be relaunching my site within the next 3 months ( www.dangersmith.com), which is why the feedback is important. Thanks.
Long-running series have time to develop a fan-base.
Self-contained stories that aren't really connected don't build anything; doesn't make me excited to read from week-to-week.
Containing multiple comics is good for variety; one's popularity is everyone's gain
Side google ads no; pop-ups YES
As for what hasn't been done or at least I haven't seen it: allow fans to submit a dream episode script, the one you like the most, make it at post it
Comic art on the web isn't being fully utilized because it's not an essential part of pop culture; plus it's really tough to get noticed on google, which is how everyone finds everything
